Your Health & Fitness Savings Account
It would be best if you just read this out loud and let it sink way in. To be honest, most people could stand to hear this (self included). And...there are no fancy pictures in today's blog to keep you engaged. Just the words and you getting real with yourself.
I've learned that for us, as human beings, sometimes the future is hard to visualize because it is way out there. Many people have a hard time saving money, for example. We could use our money for current pleasures, but guess what? We will be paying later when our retirement account doesn't allow for us to retire when we want to.
Think about smoking. People smoke because they get pleasure from it; a relaxing feeling. Current pleasure = pay later. Unfortunately, later payment could be in the form of health problems.
What about nutrition and fitness? Want to eat bad foods day after day while getting very little activity in? Current pleasure = pay later. Monday rolls around and you still feel uncomfortable in your clothes. Two years down the road and you're overweight. 20 years down the road and you're wondering if you'll live to play with your grandchildren.
Of course these are all just examples. Examples of what I've learned to be NEGATIVE SAVINGS.
A savings account is the exact opposite. You are currently paying in exchange for future pleasure. All of this is a shift in thinking that is required to happen in order for us to VISUALIZE OUR AGED FUTURE SELF.
This visualization is what sets people apart.
I've been thinking about what I love about the coaching opportunity, and I think that my niche is in understanding the change in thinking. This change in thinking is required for success. I believe that I have the 3 steps that people need to take in order to make that MENTAL SHIFT:
1. VISUALIZE AND BELIEVE
If you want to be the person you desire to be, you have to visualize it daily and really believe that it will happen. You set goals based on your visualization.
2. START AND THEN GO ALL IN
Next, you have to make small changes to begin to work on it until you reach the point where you are fully contributing to your savings account.
3. BE CONSISTENT
Finally, you need to be consistent and understand that it isn't going to change for you overnight. You can make small changes that will add up over time to bring your visualization to fruition.
Do you have the visual of your future self right now in your head? Now, what changes do you need to start making today to make your future self the person you really want to be? I would love to help you make it happen.
